Dates with Mommy

Having “date days” with my kids is such fun and has made a big difference in both our relationships and their behavior. . My youngest acts out a lot, but when he gets 1:1 Mommy time, he’s a totally different creature. Much sweeter and more loving. The acting out is a way of seeking attention, sometimes in the only way a 3 year old knows how. He’ll take negative attention just to have the focus on him. (This is why I’ve become a huge advocate of positive parenting.) . Then, there’s my sweet big boy (pictured). He is quieter and more independent, and sadly, that means he often gets overlooked. But today, while his brother and Daddy were gone, we had time just for the two of us. We played and talked. He likes those FB messenger filters, and we laughed til we cried trying those out. . It’s the little things in life that make a big difference. . But more than anything, it’s important to show love to the people we care about. Making time for each other is what life is all about. . Do you ever have dates with your kids?
