My Favorite Things: June 2019

1) Catastrophe

This Amazon Prime show just released its 4th season. But with only 6 episodes per season, you can quickly and easily get caught up. This binge-worthy show stars Rob Delaney who accidentally gets Sharon (Sharon Horgan) pregnant after a one-night stand during a business trip to London. In the following seasons, Rob and Sharon marry and work to maintain their love, passion, and humor amidst flirtatious co-workers, post-partum depression, dysfunctional friends and crazy relatives. The show was hailed “rom com of the year” in 2015 when it originally aired, and it’s one I wish more episodes were available today!

2) Travel Makeup Case

A fashion blogger I follow on Instagram recently touted the uses of this case. After watching her stories and doing some personal research on the product, I decided to give it a try.

I seem to always struggle with my makeup and other toiletries when traveling. In the past, I’ve used a bag for brushes, a bag for powders and eyeshadow, a bag for liquid makeup, plus another toiletry bag for other supplies. That’s a whole lot to pack!

This case makes traveling much more organized. You can easily see your makeup brushes, and they are held in place in neat pockets. The base comes with adjustable dividers and can be added or removed and configured to your needs. Another compartment behind the pouch can be used for additional storage.

I love the configuration and versatility so much that I now use it on a daily basis, not just for travel. If I need to quickly clear off my countertops, I can just zip it up and put it away. It’s also helped me downsize the amount of makeup I need and use because I can see it all so clearly. And for $13.99, you just can’t beat the price!

3) Beautycounter Eye Shadow Palettes

Speaking of makeup, Beautycounter makes the BEST safer option for eye shadow on the market. Pictured above is the Romantic palette which contains neutral shades in both satin and matte finishes. A Best Seller, these eye shadows are specially designed for rich color payoff and long-wearing performance, without the questionable ingredients of most over-the-counter brands. It’s formulated with Butterpowder – an ingredient that boosts pigment and long-wear – so it lays down evenly and blends seamlessly.

This is my go-to shadow because it’s versatile enough to be worn daily or for a night out. There are two other 9-shade palettes: Statement and Classic. You’ll be sure to find one you like. And P.S., they last forever since a little goes a long way. Click here for more details.

4) Women's Michaela Mid Block Heel Pump Sandals

When we were invited to a relative’s wedding this summer, I knew I wanted a dressier sandal but one that wouldn’t hurt my feet after 10 minutes. (I can’t stand heels anymore!) I also didn’t want to spend a lot of money, figuring that I likely wouldn’t wear the sandals often after the wedding. So, of course, I turned to my favorite place to shop … Target.

I found the Michaela sandal from Target’s A New Day line on their website. With my REDcard, I was able to get these shipped to my house in two days for free! I figured I could easily return them if they didn’t work.

To say these lived up to my expectations is an understatement. They are comfortable, classy, and with the neutral taupe color, they go with any outfit and can be dressed up or down. I received a number of compliments on them and was happy to reply that I found them at Target. And guess what? I’ll be wearing them well beyond the wedding because they don’t hurt!

These are an absolute steal right now, currently retailing for only $19.99. Click here for details.

5) Navitas Maca Powder

My friend Laurie recently gave me some of this Maca powder to try. Maca is an adaptogen and helps balance stress levels and bolster resiliency in the body. With all of the stress in my life right now with our upcoming move to Indiana, this is exactly what I needed to help reduce some of that anxiety.

Maca is also known to boost libido, improve mood, reduce blood pressure, fight free radicals, help with menopausal symptoms, and improve memory.

I like to add this to my smoothies, and Laurie loves it in her coffee. It has a sweet, nutty flavor and blends well, complimenting the other components of my shakes.

I love that this product is organic, gluten-free, and from a certified B Corporation.
